Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 48 members were in attendance.

Apologies: James Dinsmore, John McKegney, James Nesbitt and Ernest Preece. (4)

The President Jim Archer welcomed members to the meeting. This morning’s speaker, Ken Wood was introduced, the topic of his talk being “Remembrance and how it has evolved since WW 1”

A question and answer session followed the talk.

A vote of thanks proposed by Norman Irwin was passed to Ken Wood by the President. The members showed their appreciation.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: Because of time limitations the Minutes of 1st November 2016 were, with the approval of the members present, taken as read and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: A letter received from “Child Soldiers International” dated 02-11-16 gives an update of the Charities work with child soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is Jimmy Nesbitt’s charity which received £1,500 in 2014 from the All Ireland Probus Rally hosted by Coleraine Probus Club.

Social: Joe Alcorn reminded members that there will not be a Club Lunch in November. The next lunch will be the Christmas Lunch on Tuesday 13th December 2016.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten reported that Ernest Preece is at present incapacated by leg ulcers. Arthur Nicholl and wife Margaret now reside in Cuilrathane Fold.
Treasurer: Nothing to report from Nigel Semple.

2. Coleraine Methodist Bridge Builders Advent Service in the Methodist Church on Tuesday 29th November 2016 at 7:30pm.

3 Coleraine Historical Society Lecture in Coleraine Town Hall on Tue. 15th Nov. at 7:30pm. Dr. Peter Crawford on “The Coleraine Hoard and Romano-Irish Relations in Late Antiquity”
The Next Meeting: Will be on Tue.15th November 2016 when the speaker will be Mike Johnston on the subject of “The Dairy Council.”

The President thanked members for attending and hoped to see everyone at the next Club meeting.
