Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 45 members were in attendance.

Apologies: James Dinsmore, John Graham, John McKegney, John McHenry, and Cecil Spotten. (5)

The President Jim Archer welcomed members and guest Derek Wood to the meeting.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the listed speaker was unable to attend this morning’s Probus meeting. Fortunately club member Ken Parkes stepped in at very short notice with a video appropriately entitled “The Saving of the Settle to Carlisle Railway”.
A question and answer session followed the talk.

A vote of thanks proposed by Des Moore was passed to Ken Parkes by the President. Once again the members showed their enthusiastic appreciation to Ken.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: Because of time limitations the Minutes of 8th November 2016 were, with the approval of the members present, taken as read and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None.

Social: The next lunch will be the Christmas Lunch on Tuesday 13th December 2016. Joe Alcorn said that menus for this lunch will be available on Tuesday 22nd Nov.

Welfare: Nothing to report. An apology was received from Cecil Spotten.
Treasurer: Nothing to report from Nigel Semple.

AOB :
1. COUNTERPOINT Christmas Concert will be held in St. Patrick’s Church on Friday 2nd. December 2016 at 7:30. Tickets will be available next week (£10:00). Proceeds in support of “Riding for the Disabled”.

2. Somme 100 Exhibition in First Coleraine Presbyterian Church 15th to 19th Nov.

3. “The Coleraine Hoard and Romano- Irish Relations in Late Antiquity” Lecture by Dr. Peter Crawford in Coleraine Town Hall on 15th November at 7:30pm.

4. Coleraine Methodist Bridge Builders Advent Service in the Methodist Church on Tuesday 29th November 2016 at 7:30 pm.

The Next Meeting: Will be on Tue.22nd November 2016 when the speaker again will be Ken Parkes on the subject of “The Golden Days of Silent Films”.

The President thanked members for attending and hoped to see everyone at the next Club meeting.
