Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club

Attendance: 43 members.

The Club Vice President, Mike Turner, welcomed members to the meeting with a special welcome to John Dobson. He then introduced our speaker for the morning, Stanley Bate, the topic of his talk being “HERE AND NOW”.

The talk included an extensive range of photographs mostly taken over the years by Stanley himself and which illustrated the changing face of the local towns and villages.

Changes that all too often proved detrimental to the prevailing landscape.

The Vice President asked members with questions to speak to Stanley after the meeting.

A vote of thanks proposed by Jim Archer was passed to Stanley Bate by the Vice President. The members showed their appreciation.

REPORTS:
Social: Joe Alcorn reported on the excellent Christmas Lunch and thanked Eric Fulton and Des Johnston for their organisational skills. Because of the AGM on January 26th.the next Club Lunch will be held on Tuesday 23rd February 2016.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten reporting- Norman Austin who resides in a local nursing home is now weak and frail.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple confirmed that the Accounts for 2015/16 will be presented at the AGM on Tuesday 26th January.

A O B:
1. A formal notice was given that the AGM will be held on Tuesday 26th January 2016. Members wishing to raise matters for the agenda or make changes /additions to the Constitution should inform the Secretary on or before Tue. 12th January 2016.
2. There will be a Retiring Collection for the” SMILES FOUNDATION” taken at the end of the next meeting on Tuesday 12th January. This is the second and final charitable collection for the year 2015/16.
3. A Committee Meeting will be held in the Dalzell Room on Tue. 12th Jan. at 9:30am.
4. Five members from the Omagh Probus Clubs will be our Guests on Tue. 19th Jan.
5. Probus Club Ties: Members wishing to order ties should speak to the Vice President after the meeting.
6. Ken Parkes recommended that members should visit the excellent Club Website which is so expertly managed by Mike Turner. Ken also proposed that a list of members be raised to act as stand-by speakers on the very occasional time when the listed speaker could not fulfil an engagement. This would be a 10 minute “party Piece”

Next Speakers Meeting: Will be held on Tuesday 12 January 2016 and the speaker will be John Campbell on the subject of “WALK ACROSS ENGLAND”.

The Vice President thanked the members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting..
