Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 41 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (10) Jim Archer, Leo Dolan, Norman Gallagher, Norman Maxwell, Ken Parkes, Reggie Patterson, Gerry Sayers, Tony Smith, John Tan and Jim Torrens.

The President, Des Moore, welcomed members to the meeting together with visiting guests Bernard Stanley, Stanley White and Gordon Turnbull.

Unfortunately because of a family bereavement our listed speaker Alison McCaughan is unable to be with us this morning. The President introduced club member Mike Turner who, at very short notice, has agreed to give a talk on “Birmingham Inner City, Balsall Heath Urban Renewal Project”.

A comprehensive summary of the talk is available in the speaker’s record book and here on the club website.

A question and answer session followed the talk. A vote of thanks, proposed by John Graham, was passed to Mike by the President. The members showed their appreciation of an interesting and nostalgic talk.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 2nd October 2018 were read, approved by the members and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Reports
Social; Joe Alcorn reminded members that the next club lunch will be held on Tuesday 30th October 2018. Members should sign the attendance sheet if they intend going to the Buffet Lunch at The Lodge Hotel. Include guests where appropriate

Welfare: Cecil Spotten said that he had nothing further to report.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple, Nothing to report. .

1. Probus magazines are available at the signing in table.

2. NEW MEMBER, Eric Fulton formally proposed that John O’Neill be accepted for membership of Coleraine Probus Club. The proposal was seconded by Danny Kennedy and approved unanimously by the members.

3. COUNTERPOINT CONCERT. For details see the poster at the signing in table.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 16th October 2018 in Portstewart Golf Club when Jim Fairburn will speak on “Robbie Burns”.

Closing Remarks: The President thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting. He reminded committee members that a committee meeting will be held on Tue.23rd October at 9:30am.

The meeting closed at 11:52am.
