Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 40 members were in attendance.

Apologies: Robin Blackford, Malcolm Hinds, Ian Murray, Reggie Patterson, and John Tan (5)

The President, Des Moore, welcomed members to the meeting together with guests, Stephen Clarke and Gordon Turnbull. New member Maurice Platt was presented with his membership badges and documents.

The President then introduced this morning’s speaker Dr. Gordon Grey the topic of his talk and slide presentation being “Sailing the Western Isles.” Before his talk, Dr. Gordon Grey brought greetings from the Ballycastle Probus Club.

A vote of thanks, proposed by Graham Kane, was passed to Dr. Grey by the President. The members showed their appreciation of an interesting and evocative talk.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 20th February 2018 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None.

Reports
Social: Joe Alcorn recorded that a successful lunch was held on Tuesday 27th Feb. at the Lodge Hotel with 23 members and guests in attendance.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten has nothing further to report.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple has nothing to report.

A.O.B
1. Probus all Ireland Rally on Tue. 15th to Thurs 17th May 2018, venue the Brandon Hotel Tralee. Booking information is now available. Delegate fee £50:00 each, Companion fee £25:00 each which includes Bus Tour A or B. Members hoping to attend the Rally should speak to Secretary as soon as possible. Final date for returns 3rd April 2018.

2. Probus Magazines, Springtime edition, is now available from Ken Parkes. It contains features of local interest. Ken is able to give £16:40 to Nigel, raised from the winter edition.

3. Committee Meeting. A committee meeting will be held on Tue. 20th March.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tue. 13th March when the speaker will be the Revd. Dr. Stanley Gamble on the subject of “St.Patrick.”

Closing Remarks: The President thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting.
