Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 39 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (9) Jim Archer, Leo Dolan, Norman Gallagher, John Graham, Jack Henderson, James Nesbit, John O’Neill, Reggie Patterson and Mike Turner.

The President said he had regretfully to announce the sudden death of local historian Robert Anderson. Robert is well known to the members and he was due to give a talk to Probus on Tuesday 15th January. The funeral will be private and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.

The President then gave a warm welcome to members and to our guest Billy Holmes. This morning’s speaker, Robin Ruddock, was then introduced, the title of his talk being “Sailing around the Western Isles”.

A question and answer session followed the talk. A vote of thanks, proposed by Graham Kane, was passed to Robin by the President. The members showed their appreciation of an interesting and enthralling talk.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 23rd October 2018 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None

Reports
Social: Joe Alcorn reminded members that the next lunch will be the 30th Anniversary / Christmas Lunch and Entertainment on Tuesday 11th December in the Lodge Hotel. Please put this date in your diary.

Welfare: There was no report from Cecil Spotten.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple confirmed that there is nothing further to report.

A.O.B
1. The President’s Charity. There will be a retiring collection on Tuesday 20th November for The N. I. Chest, Heart and Stroke Association. Valerie Saunders from the Association will talk about the charity.
2. A Committee Meeting will be held on Tuesday 13th November 2018 at 9:30 am. in The Dalzell Room.
3. The Playhouse Portrush. Ken Parkes informed members of presentations at this theatre on Thurs. 8th Nov. at 6:30 pm. A film about the American Paratroopers in Portrush and on Fri. 9th Nov. a Photographic Exhibition. Both productions are free of charge.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 13th November 2018 in Portstewart Golf Club when Pearl Hutchinson will speak on “Behind the Wooden Counter”.

Closing Remarks: The President thanked members for attending. He was pleased to see a good turnout of members and guests at the Club Lunch on Tuesday 30th October.
