Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance:
39 members were in attendance.

Apologies: Robin Blackford, Jim Donaghy, Des Johnston, John McGlade, John McHenry, John McKegney, Ken Parkes, Nigel Semple, John Tan and Derick Woods. (10)

The President, Des Moore, welcomed members to the meeting on a bright and sunny morning.

A special welcome was given to new member Jerry Sayers who received his club membership pack.

The President then introduced this morning’s speaker Keith Leighton the topic of his talk being “The Bann Rowing Club”.

An expanded summary of the talk is available in the speaker’s record book and here on the club website.

A question and answer session followed and a vote of thanks, proposed by Cecil Leitch, was passed to Keith Leighton by the President. The members showed their appreciation of an interesting and informative talk.

The minutes of the 10th April 2018 were read, approved by the members, and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: Pensioners’ Parliament on Wed. 6th. June 2018 , 10:30am. to 3:30pm in The Lodge Hotel. See the flyer at the signing in table for details.

Joe Alcorn reported that the Club Lunch and Quiz will be held at The Lodge Hotel on Tuesday 8th May. The 2 course buffet lunch with tea or coffee will cost £12:50. This cost is dependent on 40 members and guests attending. To date 12 members and guests have signed up. The list remains open.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten reported that Jim Donaghy has been discharged from hospital and is progressing well at home. Des Johnston is recuperating at home after breaking his thigh bone.

Treasurer: An apology was received from Nigel Semple.

Counterpoint Concert in St. Patricks Church on Friday 27th April 2018 at 7:30pm, will feature a wide variety of music. Admission £10:00.
2. Committee Meeting. The next committee meeting will be held in the Dalzell Room on Tuesday 1st May 2018 at 9:30 am.
3. Visit to Hutchinson’s Engineering. On Tue. 24th.April members should meet at 10:15am. in the B&Q car park prior to leaving at 10:30 sharp for Kilrea.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tue. 1st. May 2018 Howard Caskie will speak on “Route 66.”

Closing Remarks: The President thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting. He would also encourage members to sign up for the Club Quiz and Lunch on Tue. 8th. May as reported by Joe Alcorn.
