Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 34 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (10) Joe Alcorn, Jim Archer, Leo Dolan, Des Johnston, John McHenry. Ian Murray, Jerry Sayers, Nigel Semple, Ahmed Sharieff and Gordon Ward.

New Member: The President welcomed new member Stanley White and presented him with his membership pack.

This morning’s speaker, Wesley Stewart, was then introduced to the members the title of his talk being “The Life of KOI”.

A summary of the talk is available in the speaker’s record book and here on the club website.

A question and answer session followed the talk. A vote of thanks, proposed by Cecil Spotten, was passed to Wesley by the President. The members showed their appreciation of an interesting and enlightening talk.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 16th October 2018 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Reports:
Social: In the absence of Joe Alcorn the President reminded members that the next club lunch will be held on Tuesday 30th October 2018. Members should sign the attendance sheet if they intend going to the Buffet Lunch at The Lodge Hotel. Include guests where appropriate. Members will meet in the hotel foyer at 12:00 noon for lunch at 12:30 pm.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten said that he had nothing further to report. Jim Gordon is still waiting for admittance to a suitable local Nursing Home.

Treasurer: An apology was received from Nigel Semple. Assistant Treasurer, Derick Woods, confirmed that there is nothing further to report.

A.O.B
1. 30th Anniversary Lunch. The President reported that The Lodge Hotel has been booked on the 11th December 2018 for this event. Invited guests will include The Rotary President, The Rotary Liaison Officer and the Presidents of the five local Probus Clubs. One additional guest may accompany each of the Presidents, including the Liaison Officer.

2. New members. It was good to welcome four new members and the President encouraged members to invite friends to join the club. The Club Constitution states that the membership should not exceed 65. (Current membership 57, excluding 'Honorary Members.’)

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 6th November 2018 in Portstewart Golf Club when Robin Ruddock will speak on “Sailing around the Western Isles”.

Closing Remarks: The President thanked members for attending. He hoped to see a good turnout of members and guests at the Club Lunch on Tuesday 30th October.
The meeting closed at 11:50am.
