Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 39 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (11) Robin Blackford, Leo Dolan, Norman Irwin, Des Johnston, Graham Kane, John McHenry. John McKegney, Gerry Sayers, Nigel Semple, Jim Torrens and Gordon Ward.

New Members.
1.The President welcomed new member John O’Neill and presented him with his membership pack.
2. Cecil Spotten proposed that Stanley White be accepted for membership of Coleraine Probus Club. The proposal was seconded by John Graham and approved by the members.

This morning’s speaker, Jim Fairburn, was then introduced to the members the title of his talk being “Robbie Burns”. Jim thanked the President for his kind invitation and brought felicitations from Portballintrae Probus Club.

An question and answer session followed the talk. A vote of thanks, proposed by Eric Fulton, was passed to Jim Fairburn by the President. The members showed their appreciation of an interesting and scholarly talk.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 9th October 2018 were read, approved by the members and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None

Reports:
Social: Joe Alcorn reminded members that the next club lunch will be held on Tuesday 30th October 2018. Members should sign the attendance sheet if they intend going to the Buffet Lunch at The Lodge Hotel. Include guests where appropriate. Members will meet in the hotel foyer at 12:00 noon for lunch at 12:30 pm.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten said that he had nothing further to report.

Treasurer: An apology was received from Nigel Semple. Assistant Treasurer, Derick Woods, confirmed that there is nothing further to report.

A.O.B
1. 30th Anniversary Lunch. The President reported that The Lodge Hotel has been booked on the 11th December 2018 for this event. Invited guests will include The Rotary President, The Rotary Liaison Officer and the Presidents of the five local Probus Clubs. One additional guest may accompany each of the Presidents, including the Liaison Officer.

2. The Club Website. The President complimented Mike Turner on the excellence of the Club website. He would encourage members to visit the site to see for themselves the result of Mike’s endeavour.

3. New members. In was good to welcome three new members and the President encouraged members to invite friends to join the club. The Club Constitution states that the membership should not exceed 65. (Current membership 57)

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 in Portstewart Golf Club when Wesley Stewart will speak on “The Life of KOI” (Koi Carp for the uninitiated).
Closing Remarks: The President thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting. He reminded committee members that a committee meeting will be held on Tue 23rd October at 9:30am.

The meeting closed at 11:50am.
