Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 34 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (9) Jim Archer, Eric Fulton, Norman Gallagher, Jack Henderson, Hammy Houston, John McHenry, John McKegney, James Nesbitt and John Tan.

The President, Des Moore, welcomed members to the meeting. He then introduced this morning’s speaker Prof. Hugh McGavock the topic of his talk being “The Golden Age of Medicine”. Prof. Hugh McGavock thanked the President for his kind invitation to speak at todays meeting and was happy to bring greetings from Ballymoney Probus.

A question and answer session followed and a vote of thanks, proposed by Dr.John McGlade, was passed to Prof. McGavock by the President. The members showed their appreciation of an interesting and informative talk. After the meeting Hugh distributed a paper entitled “For The Mature Man; Looking After Yourself.”

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 20th March 2018 were read, approved by the members, and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None.

Reports:
Social: The Club Lunch and Quiz will be held at The Lodge Hotel on Tuesday 8th May. The 2 course buffet lunch with tea or coffee will cost £12.50p. This cost is dependent on 40+ members and guests attending. To date 12 members and guests have signed up.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten reported that Jim Donaghy has been in the Causeway Hospital for five weeks and hopes to be discharged in the next few days. Des Johnston is recuperating at home after breaking his thigh bone.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple had nothing to report. .

1. Probus All Ireland Rally on Tue. 15th to Thurs. 17th May 2018, Graham and Jo Kane with Ken Parkes will represent the Club at the Rally.

2. Counterpoint Concert in St. Patricks Church on Friday 27 th April 2018 will feature a wide variety of music.

3. Probus Magazines, (Spring Edition): These are available at the signing in table. Member are encouraged to return back copies to Ken Parkes.

4. Committee Meeting. The next committee meeting will be held in the Dalzell Room on Tuesday 1st May 2018 at 9:30am.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tue. 17th April 2018 when Keith Leighton will speak on “The Bann Rowing Club.”

Closing Remarks: The President thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting.
