Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 40 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (10) Joe Alcorn, Robin Blackford, James Dinsmore, John Graham, Jack Henderson, Danny Kennedy, John Ludlow, John McHenry, John McKegney and John O’Neill.

The President then gave a warm welcome to members and to our guest Billy Holmes with a special welcome to Leo Dolan returning to Probus after a period of illness.

This morning’s speaker, Pearl Hutchinson, was then introduced, the title of her talk being “Behind the Wooden Counter”

A question and answer session followed the talk. A vote of thanks, proposed by Mike Turner, was passed to Pearl by the President. The members showed their appreciation of an interesting and poignant talk.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 6th November 2018 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Reports
Social: The President reminded members that the next lunch will be the 30th Anniversary Celebratory Lunch and Entertainment on Tuesday 11th December in . the Lodge Hotel. Guests from Rotary and neighbouring Probus Clubs will be . present and we hope for a good attendance of members and wives or partners so please put this date in your diary. . See the special lunch attendance sheet at the signing in table.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten gave an update on the welfare of members. Jim Gordon is still waiting to be transferred to a local nursing home.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple confirmed that he has nothing further to report.

1. The President’s Charity. There will be a retiring collection on Tuesday 20th November for The N. I. Chest, Heart and Stroke Association. Valerie Saunders from the Association will talk about the charity.

2. A Sub - Committee Meeting will be held on Tuesday 20th November 2018 . at 9:30 am. in The Dalzell Room.

3. Through the Eyes of Sam Henry. A presentation by The Causeway Yarnspinners in Kilrea Town Hall on Thursday 29th November at 7:30 pm. .

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 20th November 2018 in Portstewart Golf Club when Valerie Saunders will speak on the “N. I. Chest, Heart and Stroke Association” .

Closing Remarks. The President thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting. .
