Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 37 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (10) Robin Blackford, John Christy, John Graham, Malcolm Hinds, Hammy Houston, . Des Johnston, Graham Kane, John McHenry, John McKegney and John O’Neill.

The President welcomed club members and guest Miriam Murray to this mornings meeting. Sadly he then informed members of the death of Honorary Member Leslie Brennan at the age of 93. Leslie was a founding member and hon. Secretary from 1989 to 1991, President in 1995 and served spells as speaker’s secretary and press officer. A Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving will be held today in Ballywillan Presbyterian Church at 1:30pm.

This mornings speaker Aoife McMaster was introduced, the topic of her talk being, ”The Alzheimer’s Society“.

A question and answer session followed the talk. A vote of thanks proposed by Cecil Leitch was passed to Aoife by the President.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 8th January 2019 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President. These can be viewed on the Club website.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Reports:
Social. Joe Alcorn reminded members that AGM. will be on Tue. 29th January. This will be followed by a Club buffet lunch in The Lodge Hotel at 12:30 for 1:00pm. Wives / partners are invited to the lunch. See the lunch attendance sheet at the signing in table. Please enter the numbers coming to the lunch.

Welfare. Cecil Spotten reported that Jim Gordon is now resident in The Cottage Nursing Home but sadly his mind no longer functions.

Treasurer. Nothing to report. The annual statement of accounts will be presented at the AGM.

Any Other Business:
1. A formal notice is given that the AGM. will be held on Tue. 29th January 2019. Members Wishing to raise matters for the agenda or make changes or additions to the Constitution should inform the Secretary. Deadline Tue. 22nd Jan.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 22nd January 2019 in . Portstewart Golf Club when Ken Wood will speak on the subject of “Photography and Folklore, Exploring the Causeway Coast.”

Closing Remarks: The President thanked members for attending and reminded them that the AGM will be held in the Golf Club on Tuesday 29th January 2019.
