Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 39 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (7) Robin Blackford, John Christy, Billy Holmes, John Ludlow, John McHenry, James Nesbitt and John Tan.

The President,John McGlade gave a warm welcome to members and guest, Sam Cathcart. He then introduced this mornings speaker Jim Hunter, the topic of his talk being, ”Tory Island”.

A summary of this talk is available in the speaker’s record book and here on the club website.

A question and answer session followed the talk. The President thanked Jim for an entertaining and informative insight into Tory Island.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 22nd January 2019 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President. These can be viewed on the Club website.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None

Reports:
Social: Joe Alcorn informed members that on 22nd February 2019 we have been invited to the Boathouse of The R.N.L.I. at Portrush Harbour. Members will travel direct to the Boathouse to arrive not later than 11:00 am. There will not be a meeting at the Golf Club! Should members wish it, a Club Lunch can be held in The Lodge Hotel on Tue 26th Feb. say 12:30 for 1:00 pm. If in agreement please indicate on the Lunch Attendance Sheet and state if you are bringing a wife / guest.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten reported that John McHenry has lost the sight in his left eye. He is meeting his Consultant today at the Royal Victoria Hospital. John Ludlow suffered a T.I.A. He has two broken ribs and has been to hospital for tests and treatment.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple thanked members who have already paid the annual subscription of £25:00. He is still open for receiving subscriptions.. He is still open to receiving

Any Other Business:
1. Club Ties: Any members wishing to order a Club tie should contact the Secretary immediately for inclusion in the order.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 12th February 2019 in Portstewart Golf Club when John McCullough will speak on the subject of “Kids4Schools, Mozambique.”

Closing Remarks: The President thanked members for attending this his first full meeting and looked forward to seeing them in three weeks, (he will be away for 2 weeks). In his absence, the chair will be taken by Derick Woods, Probus Vice President.
