Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 40 members were in attendance.

Apologies (11) Robin Blackford, Leo Dolan, Norman Gallagher, Jack Henderson, Des Johnston, John Ludlow, Des Moore, John O’Neill, Jim Torrens, Michael Turner and Gordon Ward.

The President, John McGlade, gave a warm welcome to the members and guest George Butler. He then introduced this mornings speaker, Norman Thorpe, the topic of his talk being ”Coastal Defences”.

A summary of this talk is available in the speaker’s record book and here on the club website.

A question and answer session followed the talk. A vote of thanks proposed by John McHenry was passed to Norman by the President.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 5th March 2019 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President. These can be viewed on the Club website.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None.

Reports.
Social. Joe Alcorn reported that the next Probus Lunch will be held on Tuesday 26th March at The Lodge Hotel, 12:00 noon for 12:30 pm. An attendance sheet is available at the signing in table. If you intend going to the lunch please ensure that your name is marked on the list. Guests should also be included. This is important so that an adequate number of tables can be provided.

Welfare. Cecil Spotten said that he has nothing to report. However If anyone knows of a member who is ill, please pass this information to Cecil.

Treasurer. Nigel Semple has nothing to report.

Any Other Business.
1. The Probus Magazine, Spring Edition is still available from Ken Parkes.

2. A Dementia Friendly Ecumenical Service will be held in St. Patrick’s Church, Coleraine on Maundy Thursday 18th April, 2:00pm for a 2:30 start. Light refreshments will be served after the service.

Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 19th March 2019 in Portstewart Golf Club when Nina McNeary will speak on the subject of “The Antrim Gardens Project.”

Closing Remarks. The President, thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting.
