DRAFT Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club The President, John McGlade, asked members to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of John Leslie, Alex Elliott and John Buick Probus members who died during the Summer break. Also remembered was Margaret the wife of member Ross Torrens who died on 25th June 2019.
Jim Nesbitt gave a touching personal reminiscence of John Leslie whom he has known for 74 years.
Attendance: 30 members were in attendance.

The President, gave a warm welcome to the members and guest Rory McCarroll who is a member of Riada Probus Club. He then introduced this mornings speaker, Geoff Warke, the topic of his talk being “Mining around Portrush"

A question and answer session followed the talk. A vote of thanks proposed by Mike Turner, and was passed to Geoff by The President.
Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of the 16th April 2019 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President. These can be viewed here on the Club website.
Matters arising: None
Correspondence: A receipt for £286 was received from The Zomba Action Project.
Reports:
Social. An apology was received from Joe Alcorn.
Welfare. Cecil Spotten reported that Reggie Patterson is in hospital in England making a good recovery from an operation to remove a gallstone.
Treasurer. Nigel Semple has nothing to report.
Any Other Business.
1. Photographs and an account of the away days to David Laughlin's Organic Farm and The Whitehead Railway Museum can be viewed on the Club website.
2. Ken Parkes reminded members that the Summer and Autumn Editions of the Probus Magazine is now available. Mike's excellent report on the visit to the Railway Museum can be seen in the Autumn edition. A small donation to cover the cost of postage would be appreciated.
3. Norman Maxwell Informed members that the University is looking for volunteers to take part in a study of Age Related Macular Degeneration. Anyone interested should contact Aoife Hunter, Contact details are available from the Secretary.
4. Classic Praise, 15th Sept. in First Coleraine Pres. Church at 6:30 pm. Counterpoint Concert, 5th Oct. in St. Patricks Ch. At 7:30 pm. Full details in the fliers on the signing in table.
Next Meeting: The next speakers meeting will be held on Tuesday 10th September 2019 when Alan Sharpe will give a talk on “Why 1919 is still important”.
