Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 40 members were in attendance.
Apologies: Joe Alcorn, Jim Archer, Norman Gallagher, Jim Hillis, Des Johnston, John Leslie, John McGlade, Ian Murray, Robin Semple, John Tan and Derick Woods. (11)
The President, Mike Turner, welcomed members to the meeting. He then introduced this morning’s speaker, Samuel Reid the topic of his talk being “The Dogs’ Trust.” Samuel is the Support Relations Officer for the Dogs’ Trust, the N. Ireland branch being located in Ballymena. He provided an impressive in depth power point presentation which dealt with all aspects of the Trust’s history and current management. The main aim of the Trust is to re-home dogs and where possible prevent the destruction of a healthy animal.

A vote of thanks proposed by Jim Donaghy was passed to Samuel Reid by the President. The members showed their appreciation of a most enlightening talk.
Weekly Business:
Minutes: The Minutes of 24thJanuary 2017 were read and approved by the members after Selwyn Johnston’s name was added to the text. The minutes were then signed by the President.
Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.
Correspondence: None.
Social: Eric Fulton now has the menus for the Club lunch on Tue. 28th Feb. Completed menus should be returned to Eric as soon as possible.
Welfare: Cecil Spotten had nothing new to report.
Treasurer: Nigel Semple reminded members that the annual subscriptions are now due for payment. He thanked members who have already paid the £25:00 sub.
A.O.B. Ken Parkes congratulated Mike Turner on becoming President. He also suggested that a trip to the Headhunters Museum in Enniskillen be considered. A number of members were interested and it was agreed that an itinerary be drawn up for a suitable summer time date.
Next meeting: Will be held on Tuesday 14th February 2017 when the speaker will be Maria McGilly on the subject of “Rotary’s Shelterboxes”.
The President said that as this was his first presidential meeting he may in future, have to borrow “Jim’s Joke Book”. This suggestion received a mixed response from members. He would also like to see more group photographs of members for inclusion in the club website.
New club membership cards are now available, one card per member.
