Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 33 members were in attendance.

Apologies: Sam Boyd, Robert Campbell, John Dobson, Jack Henderson, Jim Hillis, Aubrey McElhinney, Billy Platt, Ernest Preece, John Tan and Joe Wishart. (10)

The President, Jim Archer, welcomed members to the meeting. He then introduced this morning’s speaker, John McNally, the topic of his talk being “The Promoting of Portrush’s Heritage” John is the Chairman of the Portrush Heritage Group which was established about three years ago.

A brief summary of this talk is available in the speakers’ record book and here on the club website.

A vote of thanks proposed by John Graham was passed to John McNally by the President. The members showed their appreciation.

Weekly Business:
Minutes: The Minutes of 6th December were read, After receiving the approval of the members present, these were signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None.

Reports:
Social: Joe Alcorn reminded members that there will not be a club lunch this month as the AGM will take place on 31st January. The next Club Lunch will be on Tuesday 28th February 2017.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten had nothing further to report.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple confirmed that the accounts for 2016 will be presented at the Annual General Meeting.

A.O.B. Rotary Liaison Officer; The secretary of Coleraine Rotary Club, Heather Burns, has confirmed that Liam Hickey was appointed to this post . He will take the chair for the elections at the AGM.

Next meeting: Will be held on Tuesday 10th January 2017 when Jean Orr will speak on the subject of “Nursing in the Troubles” (Unfortunately and since the meeting, Jean Orr has been taken ill and cannot attend. John Moore will give a talk on the “Castlerock”.)

The President, after relating a few anecdotes, thanked members for attending and hoped to see everyone at the next Club meeting.
