Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 41 members were in attendance.
Apologies: Joe Alcorn, Jim Archer, John Graham, Brian Green, Malcolm Hinds, Norman Irwin, John McHenry, James Nesbitt, Nigel Semple and Gordon Ward. (10)
The President, Mike Turner, welcomed members to the meeting. He then introduced this morning’s speaker, Club Member Derick Woods, the topic of his talk being “Banking Stories.”

For the Second week in a row, we've had club members giving excellent talks. “The bar has been set at a high level for following club speakers.” A question and answer session followed the presentation. A summary of this talk is available in the speaker’s record book
and here on the club website.
A vote of thanks proposed by Eric Fulton was passed to Derick by the President. The members showed their appreciation of a most informative talk.
Weekly Business:
Minutes: The minutes of 21st February 2017 were read, approved by the members and signed by the President.
Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.
Correspondence:
1. A letter was received from the Alzheimer’s Society publicising training sessions for Informal Caregivers to be conducted at local venues. Copies of this letter can be viewed at the signing in table.
2. Probus All Ireland Rally. A show of hands indicated that three members were interested in attending the Rally on 17th and 18th May 2017 in Omagh. A committee meeting will be held to further consider Rally attendances.
Reports:
Social: Des Johnston confirmed that 33 members and guests attended a very successful lunch on Tuesday 28th February.
Welfare: Cecil Spotten reported that Leslie Brennan is in rehab and James Nesbitt is also in hospital. Both members would be described as being ill.
Treasurer: An apology was received from Nigel Semple. In his absence one or two outstanding membership subscriptions should be given to Derick Woods.

1. 78th Year – Ballymoney Drama Festival Sat 4th to Sat 11th March, Admission £7:00 nightly.
2. Flowerfield Photographic Exhibition and master class in printmaking Closing date Sat. 25th March.
3. Des Johnston informed members that a Multi Cultural Forum will be held In the Town Hall on Sat. 11th March from 1:00pm. to 4:00pm. at which variety of exotic food can be sampled.
4. John McKegney said that members have been treated to two outstanding talks by club members Norman Gallagher and Derick Woods and he would encourage other members to follow suit. He was sure that there are still many life or holiday stories to be told.
Next meeting: Will be held on Tuesday 14th March 2017 when the speaker will be Stephen Connolly on the subject of “Getting There.”
The President thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting.
