Talk by John Moore on "The Causeway Tram'

Club President Gordon Ward welcomed members to the meeting and then introduced our speaker for the morning Mr John Moore whose talk was entitled “The Causeway Tram”.
The end of the 19th Century was an exceptional period for engineering projects and Wm A Trail’s promotion of electrical traction engineering was firmly placed in the history of North Antrim.
Previous exploits to promote this form of transportation had little success and in 1879 ended in bankruptcy.

Talk by Miss Bernie McGill on her book, "The Butterfly Cabinet"

Club President Gordon Ward welcomed members to the meeting and then introduced our speaker for the morning Miss Bernie McGill whose talk was entitled “The Butterfly Cabinet”, the story of the 1892 tragedy at Cromore House, Portstewart involving Mrs Montague.
Miss McGill hails from the Maghera region, studied English and Italian at Queens’ University and for a period lived in Ancona, Italy. She returned to Portstewart and spent time with “The Big Telly Theatre Company”. She joined a writers’ group in Flowerfield Arts Centre and eventually became leader of the group.

Talk by Mr. Stewart Tosh on 'The Commonwealth Games'

Club President Gordon Ward welcomed members to the meeting and then introduced our speaker for the morning Mr Stewart Tosh. Stewart gave the members an extremely interesting and topical talk about the 'Commonwealth Games', the 20th of which was being held in Glasgow this summer. A brief summary of this talk, with photos, is also available in the Speakers Record Book.
