Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 46 members and Guest Mr. Billy Hamilton from Londonderry.
The Club President, John Graham, welcomed members and guest to the meeting. He then introduced our speaker for the morning, Mr Gordon Millington OBE, the topic of his talk being “LIGHTHOUSES”. Gordon’s talk introduced members to an amazing range of lighthouses. From the Roman Tower of Hercules in Galacia, almost 2000 years old, to a wide selection of lighthouses in the UK. and Ireland. His talk was illustrated with numerous outstanding photographs.
A summary of this enlightening talk will be available in the Speakers’ Record Book, and also on the Club Website.
A vote of thanks proposed by John McHenry was passed on to Mr Millington by the President.
The members showed their appreciation.

Minutes: The minutes of the 3rd March 2015, were read, agreed and signed by the President.
Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.
Correspondence: None.
REPORTS:Social: Joe Alcorn reported that the next club lunch will be held on Tuesday 31 March. Des Johnston or Eric Fulton should be contacted for menu details and bookings.
Welfare: Cecil Spotten in reporting confirmed that Jim Foote is now at home and is making a slow but steady progress. He is still not allowed visitors.
Treasurer: Nigel Semple confirmed that the Probus Account is in the Santander Bank non-fee paying account. Transfer of money from the previous account will be completed this week.
A O B: 1. 2015 Probus All Ireland Rally – Ennis Co Clare
The President urged members to consider attending the All Ireland Rally in May.
Details can be obtained from the Secretary. Cecil Leitch said that the 24 Members and Partners were a good representation from the Club.
2. Ballymoney Male Voice Choir, Anniversary Concert.
Peter Fitzgerald, as a member of this choir said he could recommend this Anniversary Concert. Tickets are available from him at £10.00.
3. Dunluce Castle Village
Ken Parkes was a guest at the Ballycastle Probus Club recently where a talk given by Archeologist, Andrew Gault, described the Archeological Dig being carried out at the Dunluce Castle Village. Ten Archeologists will further excavate the site during the next five years. Ken spoke to Andrew, who said he would be willing to come and talk to the Coleraine Probus Club.
Ken also took the opportunity to encourage the Ballycastle Probus members to consider sending representatives to the All Ireland Probus Rally.
Next Speakers Meeting: Will be held on Tuesday 17th. March and the speaker will be Mr Trevor Topping on "Promoting self employment in the country”
The President thanked the members for attending and hoped that everyone would be at our next meeting on Tuesday 17 March 2015.
