Held in Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 23rd September 2014

Club President Gordon Ward welcomed members to the meeting and thanked our Vice President John Graham for standing in for him over the last two weeks. The President then went on to introduce our speaker for the morning Mr. James McDowell. James gave us an interesting and colourful illustrated talk on the 'Birds of the Czech Republic'. Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Held in Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 16th September 2014

Club Vice President John Graham, welcomed members to the meeting on a fine ploughing day for farmers. The Vice President then went on to introduce our speaker for the morning Ms. Rachel Bain, who is the Biodiversity Officer for Ballymoney, Coleraine & Moyle Councils. Rachel explained that her job as split over the four existing councils, thus covering a wide area, but at this meeting, she would be talking about Coleraine in particular. She then went on to describe her job and showed some fine photos in her PowerPoint presentation. A brief summary of this talk is available in the Speakers Record Book, and also on the club web site. A vote of thanks was proposed by Dermot Jennings and was passed on by the Vice President. The members showed their appreciation.

Club Vice President John Graham, welcomed members to the meeting on a lovely sunny day and explained that our President was taking a short break, and would be back in two weeks. The Vice President then went on to Introduce our speaker for the morning Mr John Roberts. John went on to give a detailed talk and PowerPoint presentation about the Aberfan Disaster of 1966. His talk focused on the geological conditions of the area and the misplaced positioning of the mine spoil tips. A brief summary of this talk is available in the Speakers Record Book, and also on the club web site. A vote of thanks was proposed by Nigel Semple and was passed on by the Vice President. The members showed their appreciation.

Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Held in Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 2nd September 2014

Club President Gordon Ward welcomed members to the first meeting of our Autumn session. The President then went on to outline the format of the meeting, which would be a little different to 'normal', as we had no specific speaker. The aim of this weeks meeting was a review of our efforts in hosting the All Ireland Rally earlier this year. The 'formal' part of our agenda would be reduced to enable members of the Rally Committee to present their reports.
Minutes: The minutes of the 13th May 2014 were taken as read.
Correspondence: The Secretary had received several letter thanking the club for hosting a 'splendid rally', along with:- 1, details of a display about the Binevenagh Wind Farm and their planning application (now, after it's built!!!) at the Lodge on 12/13 September. 2, an invite to visit Lifford Jail (at any time). And 3, a meeting to discuss with BBC NI how they are doing. This is on 17th September 10.30 to 6.30 at the Coleraine Library. Read More...
