Attendance: 44 members were present.
Apologies: Sam Boyd, Arnold Carson, Eric Fulton, John Graham, Aubrey McElhinney, Billy Platt, Nigel Semple and Ross Torrens (8)
The Club President Graham Kane took the chair, saying he was pleased to be able to be at the meeting today, welcomed everyone and wished them a happy new year. The President then asked Club Vice President Gordon Ward to share the honours for our first meeting in 2014. As there was a 'slight technical hitch' with today's presentation, it was decided to take the business part of the meeting first.
Minutes: The minutes of the 10th December meting were read, agreed and signed.
Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda
Correspondence: None.
Rally 2014: Jim Gordon reported that there had been a committee meeting prior to the club meeting. The initial information for the rally registration was being collected together and it was aimed at being distributed to all clubs in Ireland within the next few weeks. Then the real work would start.
Social: Jim Gordon reminded members that there would be no club lunch in January, as this would be the AGM week. February 25th would be the next club lunch
Welfare: Cecil Spotten said he was pleased there was nothing to report this week.
Treasurer: Nigel Semple being absent, there was nothing to report.
A O B: AGM: Formal notice was given that the AGM would be on 28th January, 10.30 for 11.00am start. Members were reminded that if they have any specific items for the agenda or wish to propose and amendments to the constitution, they must do so to the Secretary by 14th January.
Something to note: Cecil Leitch said that it was worth recording that we were fortunate in almost never having any problems with the talks, so congratulations to the speakers staff for the many trouble free weeks.
Next Speakers Meeting: Would be on 14th January, where the guest speaker would be Mr. Terry Anderson talking about the song writing career of the great Jimmy Kennedy. This would be a full hour talk, so a prompt start would be required next week.
The Vice President then introduced our speaker for the morning Mr. Ron Medcalf, who gave a colourful, humorous and very interesting talk on 'The troubles with my motor home'. A brief summary of this talk is available in the Speakers Record Book, and on the club web site, for members' interest. A vote of thanks was proposed by Ian Murray and was passed on by the President. The members showed their appreciation.
Both the President and Vice President thanked all for attending, and hoped to see everyone for our next meeting on 14th January.
