Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Held in Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 1 April 2014.

Attendance: 38 members were present.

Apologies: John McGlade, Ian Murray, James Nesbitt, Mervyn Patterson, Reggie Patterson, Cecil Spotten, Mike Turner

Club President, Gordon Ward, welcomed members to the meeting and then introduced our speaker for the morning, Mr Stephen Peden, who gave a very informative talk describing his 30 years in the N. Ireland Fire Service. A brief summary of this talk is available in the Speakers’ Record Book and also on the Club Website. A vote of thanks was proposed by Jim Archer and was passed on by the President. The members showed their appreciation.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None.

Minutes: The minutes of the 18 March 2014 were read, agreed and signed.

Social: Jim Gordon reported that the members partook of an excellent lunch on Tuesday 25 March. He thanked Jim Foote for standing in when he was unavoidably absent. Menus will be available next week for the Club Lunch on Tuesday 29 April 2014. Members are encouraged to attend.

Welfare: Nothing to report. An apology was received from Cecil Spotten.

Treasurer: Nothing to report.

Any Other Business:
1. Voluntary Task Forms
Jim Gordon said that he was comfortable with the various tasks as listed on Volunteer Task Form and he asked members to make sure they had a copy of the form. The completed forms should be returned at the next Probus meeting on 8 April.
The Registration deadline is 16 April which will lead into a period of intensive activity.
The success of the Rally will depend on members especially as hosts at the lunch tables where we can aim for a more homely atmosphere.
2. English Website
Ken Parkes reported that on checking a Probus website in the Birmingham region he discovered an advert for the “All Ireland Probus Rally 2014”. Ken also drew attention to the quarterly Probus Magazine which was now available.

Next Meeting will be held on Tuesday 8 April 2014 March when a special slide show and discussion about the All Ireland Probus Rally will take place.

The President thanked everyone for attending and hoped to see all the members at our next meeting.
