Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Held in Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 4th February 2014

Attendance: 44 members were present

Apologies: Jim Archer, Arnold Carson, James Dinsmore, Dermot Jennings, John McGlade, Aubrey McElhinney and Billy Platt (7)

New Club President Gordon Ward welcomed club members and guest John Springhall to this first meeting of his Presidential year, on a fine sunny morning. Gordon then introduced our speaker for the morning Prof. Harry McMahon, who gave a fascinating and unusual talk on 'Art, Statistics and the Troubles'. A brief summary of this talk is available in the Speakers Record Book, and on the club web site, for members' interest. A vote of thanks was proposed by Norman Gallagher and was passed on by the President. The members showed their appreciation.

Minutes: The minutes of the 21st January 2014 read, agreed and signed.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

Correspondence: None.

Social: Jim Gordon said that he had menus available for the Club lunch on February 25th and distributed them to members present

Welfare: Cecil Spotten said he was pleased to say there was nothing to report this week.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple said he was currently collecting members subs, which were now due.

Next Speakers Meeting: Would be on 11th February, where the guest speaker would be Club Member Ian Murray talking about the 'Walk of 1000 Men, in Cornwall'

The President thanked everyone for attending, and hoped to see them at our next meeting.
