President Mike Turner greets Ian Murray and his wife Mirian, with club member Jim Nesbitt (Far L)

Coleraine Probus take a look at 'an old fashioned photographer'

The President, Mike Turner, welcomed members to the meeting together with guests Ken Wood and Robin Blackwood, along with 'our speaker's assistant' Mirian Murray. He then introduced this morning’s speaker, Club Member Ian Murray, the topic of his talk being “My Photographic Journey.”

Ian started taking an interest in photography from the age of ten when his uncle showed him how to use a camera and develop film. He has found inspiration in everything around him in daily life and his presentation illustrated just how skilled Ian is as a photographer. His prints are imbued with mood and atmosphere and in portraiture Ian always seeks to obtain the character of the sitter, whether it’s a young child in “Thumb Comfort” or an old poacher in “Deep in Thought”.

Whether it’s portraits, places, landscapes or still life Ian’s black and white photographs, taken with his Twin Lens Reflex Camera, show him to be a very resourceful and dedicated photographer and a worthy Associate of the Royal Photographic Society.
