Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Held in Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 5th November 2013

Attendance: 44 members were present.

Apologies: Jack Henderson, Norman Maxwell, John McGlade, Billy Platt and Tony Smyth (5)

Club President Graham Kane welcomed club members as well as guests Norman Gallagher and John McKegney to the meeting. Graham then thanked Vice President Gordon Ward for standing in as chair for last weeks meeting and then introduced our speaker for the morning Mr. Clarke Black. Mr. Black gave a highly informative talk on the Northern Ireland Farmers Union and it's role in the European Union. A brief summary of this talk is available in the Speakers Record Book, and on the club web site, for members interest. A vote of thanks was proposed by John McHenry and was passed on by the Vice President. The members showed their appreciation.

Minutes: The minutes of the meeting on 22nd October 2013 were read, agreed and signed.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda

Correspondence: None.

Social: Jim Gordon reminded members about the special 25th Anniversary buffet meal on 26th November. Jim said that so far there were about 50 members and partners plus 10/12 guests signed up to attend and that he hoped for a few more. Jim asked for people to sign up as soon as possible, so that he could get on with the difficult task of the seating plan.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten reported that Arnold Carson had returned home from the nursing home and was making a slow but steady improvement.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple said the accounts were in order and there was nothing to report.

A O B: 1. New Member - Nigel Semple gave notice that he would be proposing Norman Gallagher for membership at the next meeting.

2. New Ties - The Secretary said that this meeting was the last chance for members to request new club ties before the order had to be sent off.

Next Speakers Meeting: Would be on 12th November, where the guest speaker would be Mr. Michael Conway, talking about 'Irish Wildlife'.
