Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Held in Portstewart Golf Club on Tuesday 22nd October 2013

Attendance: 42 members were present.

Apologies: Graham Kane, Noel Finlay, Graham MacDonald, John McHenry, Gareth Parry, Billy Platt, Robin Semple and Tony Smyth (8)

Club Vice President Gordon Ward welcomed club members and explained that he was standing in for our President as he was unable to attend this week's meeting. Gordon then introduced our speaker for the morning Mr. Peter Jack, our local triathlon competitor, mountain climber and 'Iron Man' champion, who was making a very welcome return to the club. This time Peter was giving a talk on his recent visit to Borneo. A brief summary of this talk is available in the Speakers Record Book, and on the club web site, for members interest. A vote of thanks was proposed by Aubrey McElhinney and was passed on by the Vice President. The members showed their appreciation.

Minutes: The minutes of the meeting on 15th October 2013 were taken as read.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda

Correspondence: None.

Social: Jim Gordon reminded members about the club lunch on 29th October, and asked that meal choices were returned to him as soon as possible. Jim then went on to talk about the special 25th Anniversary buffet meal on 26th November. Jim said that this was a very special occasion indeed with the Mayor and many guests from other local Probus Clubs and Rotary there too. He hoped that all members and partners would be attending. This hope was echoed by the Vice President, who was looking forward to a full attendance by members.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten had nothing new to report this week.

Treasurer: Nigel Semple said the accounts were in order and there was nothing to report.

Next Meeting: Would be the Club Lunch on 29th October - 12.00 for 12.30 meal at the Golf Club.

Next Speakers Meeting: Would be on 5th November, where the guest speaker would be Mr. Clarke Black, talking about the 'Farmers Union and the EU'.
