Minutes for 21st April 2015

Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
Attendance: 42 members and Guest Mr Malcolm Hinds.

The Club President, John Graham, welcomed members and guest to the meeting. He then introduced our speaker for the morning, Rev Eddie Dorrans, the topic of his talk being “Bridge Over the River Galana – A Bridge of Faith.”
Eddie qualified as a Civil Engineer and for a time worked in both the public and private sector of the industry before entering the Ministry of the Presbyterian Church. He spent 20 years serving churches in Donegal, Ballycastle and Cullybackey. On retirement he was involved with outreach work in S.E. Kenya, bringing the Good News of the Kingdom of God in a practical way through the building of a bridge over the crocodile infested River Galana and excavating a well to provide fresh water for the local Kenyans. Eddie’s amazing story illustrated that when a project seemed humanly impossible, God was able to provide. The bridge is now operational and is serving the local community.
A question and answer session followed the talk. A summary of this talk is available in the Speakers’ Record Book, and also on the Club Website.
A vote of thanks proposed by John McHenry was passed on to The Rev Dorrans by the President. The members showed their appreciation.
