Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club

Attendance: 43 members.

The Club President, John Graham, welcomed members and guest Jim Torrens to the meeting. He then introduced our speaker for the morning, Nicola Greer, the topic of her talk being “55+ PROJECT ON ALCOHOL AWARENESS.”

Nicola is the Training and Development Officer with the Causeway Rural and Urban Network (CRUN)
Alcohol awareness is an Umbrella Organisation funded for 3 years by the Big Lottery Fund which provides community contact and confidential support for individuals and families who experience alcohol abuse.
Nicola works with two social workers providing counselling services. She also organises Training Courses for various local groups. The talk concluded with a related quiz in which the Club Members scored well in the knowledge stakes.
A question and answer session followed the talk.

A vote of thanks proposed by Bob McIvor was passed to Nicola Greer by the President. The members showed their appreciation.

Minutes: The Minutes of the 3 November 2015 were read, agreed and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.

REPORTS:
Social: Joe Alcorn reminded members that there will not be a Club lunch in November. The next lunch will be held on Tue. 8th December 2015 and this will be preceded by the Christmas Entertainment . It is hoped that the Christmas Lunch Menus will be available at the next Probus Club meeting..

Welfare: An apology was received from Cecil Spotten.

Treasurer: Nothing to report.

A O B:
1 Graham Kane proposed that Jim Torrens be admitted to membership of Coleraine Probus Club. The proposal was seconded by John Graham and approved unanimously by the attending members.

2 Cecil Leitch proposed that, since Wed. 11th Nov. was recognised as Remembrance Day it would be appropriate to observe a moment of silence
Members then observed a two minute silence.

Next Speakers Meeting: Will be held on Tuesday 17 November 2015 and the speaker will be Andrew Fleming, St John Ambulance, the subject of his talk being “HOME FIRST AID”

The President thanked the members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting. Meeting closed at 11:45am.
